Man shot in side after gun accidentally discharges

MYAKKA CITY, Fla. - A man was airlifted and taken  to the hospital after a hunting trip that went wrong Saturday.

Manatee County Sheriff Deputies say Jason Durrance had invited Floyd Oney to go hog hunting on his property on Clay Gully Road. Oney was armed with a .45 long Colt revolver that he had in a belt holster tossed over his shoulder.

The two men tried to start a Kawasaki all terrain vehicle called a mule, but where having a hard time turning it on. In order to take a closer look into what the problem was they lifted the seat to look at the motor.

As Oney leaned over the revolver fell out of his holster and hit the ground firing a round into the air. The bullet went in and out of Oney's abdomen on the left side.

He was flown to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
