Wanted man lead deputies on chase at 124 mph, bolts from car, runs into family home

BRADENTON - A man with warrants in Manatee and Sarasota counties ran into a family's Bradenton home to flee from officers following a high speed chase overnight.

Deputy Ambriati  was running radar on US 301 when he saw a red Volkswagon zip by at 124 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone just after midnight Wednesday.

The deputy issued a "be on the look out" for the vehicle and several officers responded to the area in attempt to stop the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Jerry Wayne Green.

Deputy Lake was at SR 70 and US 301 when he saw Green run a red light.

Lake tried to stop the vehicle with his lights and siren but the suspect fled.

Sarasota officials were also contacted and officials spotted the vehicle by aircraft.

Deputy Sanders saw the vehicle pull onto 32 nd Ave E and stop.

Sanders saw Green bail from the car and run into someone's nearby home. Authorities surrounded the home and the homeowner allowed officials to search the home.

The suspect was found in a child's bedroom. Officials did a check on the suspect's name and saw he had warrants.

Green also had 14 previous arrests dating back to 2005, including charges for distribution/possession with intent to sell, murder (not premeditated), premeditated murder, battery and contempt of court.

He was arrested and taken to jail.
