More than 50-million drivers are expected to hit the road for the Thanksgiving season. Troopers are expecting heavy traffic, but they are also expecting some drivers to rely too heavily on their car’s technology. Troopers are seeing more people relying on turn signal and backup cameras.

“If you are just counting on these warning mechanisms it’ll be too late, you’ll just hear the warning beeps and then the collision,” said Trooper Ken Watson.

Watson said the technology is in place to assist drivers, but drivers still need to pay attention.

“Remember you will be the one getting the citation, not your car,” said Watson.

Rose Rosen plans to travel this holiday season. She will be driving her new car which is equipped with a backup camera.

“I see a lot of people looking at just the camera monitor and that’s crazy, I like to look and see what I’m doing,” said Rosen.

Troopers said they plan to be out in full force during the holiday travel season.
