Musician donates money to local school

BRADENTON, Fla. - Students at Southeast High School in Bradenton are singing a happy tune.

Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles presented a check for $10,000 to support music programs at the school.

The money is part of a contest titled "Nice Job, Mom: We Rock."  It is a national campaign that honors moms who keep their families' health and happiness in perfect harmony.  Mothers across the country submitted the tips and tricks that make them rock star moms.

Jillian Cupps was one of the winners. Cupps is a 2000 graduate of the school. She was awarded VIP treatment at a Bareilles' concert and a $10,000 donation in her name to the music education program at a school of her choice. Cupps chose to reward the music programs at Southeast High School.

Bareilles is a popular musical artist and pianist known for her hit single "Love Song" which reached the top of the Billboard Pop 100 chart in 2007. She has sold over 1 million records and been nominated for three Grammys.
