Suspects threaten to kill child while robbing Bradenton home, victim says

Sheriff's Office says they have new leads

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says they have new leads in the search for two masked men who allegedly held a woman and her two children, two and seven-years-old, at gunpoint late Wednesday night.

Elter De Leon, detailed what he says happened to his sister, 33-year-old Adelaida De Leon and her kids when they got home from church around 10:20 Wednesday night.  He says two masked men with guns were ransacking her house.

It all happened at a home on 58th Avenue Drive East, a little more than three miles West of 301.

According to De Leon, the men were very aggressive.  He says one of them grabbed the kids and took them to the back room while the other hit Adelaida in the face, demanding everything she had.  He says the masked man even told his sister he would kill one of the children if she didn't give him what he wanted.

De Leon says the men eventually fled from the house leaving Adelaida and the children screaming for help.

Deputies have little to go on at this time.  They say all the victim was able to tell them was the suspects spoke Spanish and they were wearing white shirts, black shorts and gloves.  While it may still be a mystery who did this, the Dave Bristow with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office says there is a good chance this wasn't random.

"They may have hit the house because someone they know used to live there," says Bristow.  "Someone that's living there part time has gotten into some trouble.  Or something like that."

Bristow says he doesn't want to release too much information on the possible leads they have at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011.
