Manatee County Deputy Steven Buckel resigned from his job on Friday after being arrested in Venice on a battery charge.
A police report showed that Buckel met a 17-year old girl on the beach. She told investigators he rubbed her back and attempted to kiss her. The alleged victim told investigators that she informed Buckel of her age. She said that he told her that he was a police officer.
Venice officers conducted an undercover texting sting. Buckel was arrested last week. He was a deputy with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office since 2012.
The Venice Police Chief told ABC Actin News that the investigation into Buckel is active and more charges could be filed.
