Incident puts two Manatee schools on lockdown

Manatee High School and Bradenton Christian were placed on lockdown for about a half hour on Tuesday after an incident involving four individuals and gunfire.
It began around 11 a.m. at a Walmart and continued down 43rd St. SW.  A vehicle with four people inside pulled up near the school.  According to Bradenton police, one of the vehicle's occupants had been assaulted and badly beaten.
That person managed to flee and was hospitalized.
At some point, a shot was fired. Police caught up with the suspect vehicle and found a weapon inside.
The incident did not occur on campus and the vehicle's occupants were not affiliated with the school.
The lockdowns were lifted shortly after 11:30 a.m.
