A deputy shot and killed a man Thursday morning after his mother said he had attacked her.
Deputies responded to a convenience store around 8:00 a.m. at State Road 70 and 33rd Street East in Bradenton, where the woman said her 31-year-old son, Terry Sellars, Jr., held her against her will and battered her.
She told deputies that she managed to escape and drove to the convenience store.
When deputies went to arrest Sellars at home, he came out of the house at 3255 58th Avenue East waving a Samurai-type sword and charged towards one of the deputies in a threatening manner.
One deputy fired his service weapon, striking and killing the suspect.
The deputy was not injured.
