A 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle on Clay Gully Road in Manatee County was the victim of a hit-and-run traffic incident Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Nathan Nerf of Myakka City was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Nathan was riding his bike, heading east on Clay Gully Road near Altman Road, when an unknown vehicle traveling in the opposite direction sideswiped his bike. He was injured as the vehicle sped away.
No description of the vehicle involved in the traffic accident was available. The crash occurred about 7:33 p.m.
State troopers are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or driver involved in the incident to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (239) 939-1800.
