Winter Haven Police arrested a United States Marine Corps Recruiter after authorities learned about sexual activity with a minor.

Sgt. Joshua T. Mann, 26,, is accused of sexual activity with a student at Bartow High School in Winter Haven.

Police say a 17-year-old girl at Bartow High was overheard speaking with another student about the sexual activity with Mann, which was reported to the School Resource Officer.

The teen said she first met Mann in February of 2017. He was at the school recruiting, and though she wasn't eligible to become a recruit, Mann kept in phone contact with her over the summer since she would be eligible the following year.

The girl told detectives no inappropriate behavior happened the first time she went to the office, but two subsequent trips in June ended up with two sexual encounters.

None of the encounters occurred on a school campus.

Winter Haven Detectives went to the recruiting office and arrested Mann, charging him with two counts of Sexual Activity with a 16/17-year-old.
