Infant dies five days after Winter Haven crash

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A 2-month-old girl has died from injuries sustained when the car she was riding in was involved in a crash on Havendale Boulevard in Winter Haven.

Imani Brown suffered critical brain trauma last Tuesday after getting tossed around in the back seat of the car while still in her car seat.

She was pronounced dead on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

Her 3-year-old brother, Mekhi, was ejected from the rear window of the car while still in his car seat.  He was last listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe the car seat may have helped to protect him from the impact when he landed on the road.

Imani did not have a pulse when some off-duty officers arrived.

Three off-duty officers and an on-duty officer spent about four minutes resuscitating Imani, who was then airlifted to Orlando.

Their mother, Keri Radnor, also suffered serious injures but will recover.

Investigators believe Radnor turned on to Havendale Blvd. and into the path of an SUV. The three people in that car suffered minor injures.

Police said it appeared the car seats were not properly secured.
