$20 bills coming out of the $5 bill slot: that's what was happening at a Winter Haven Walmart.

On April 22 a little after midnight, a group of eight people (two young children and one teenager) who appear to be family or close friends, entered the Walmart at 355 Cypress Gardens Blvd.

One of the men scanned and paid cash for two items and got his change from the machine. He walks away and then returns while another item. They appear to compare the bills and notice the change given was incorrect.

What should have been a $5 bill came out as a $20 bill. After discovering this, the group all began lining up to pay for one small item each to get change that should have included a $5 bill, knowing they would instead receive $20.

This continued for more than 20 minutes, until the group had accumulated $1,100 due to the error.

The store found the error eventually and an audit found that the $20 bills were placed in the $5 slot.

Footage from the parking lot shows that the group came in two separate vehicles, one a newer model black four-door and the other a silver or gray four-door.

Anyone with information on the identities of any of those pictured is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
