Teacher Jennifer Fichter charged with having sex with third student

The former Polk County English teacher who has been in jail for the past month and a half on charges of having sex with two students is now accused of having sex with a third.

Jennifer Fichter appeared before a judge Thursday afternoon and learned her bond ballooned to more than a half million dollars.

Lakeland Police Department said it learned about the new case while investigating the two previous victims.

Investigators said Fichter first met the the 17-year-old at Central Florida Aerospace Academy, where she had him as a student.

Their relationship grew closer when the two began playing the popular iPhone app Words with Friends, police said.

Investigators said they eventually met up at a bon fire near the school on Sun N' Fun's property and at one point escaped to the rooftop of the FAA building to have sex.

"It was pre-planned on his end. He called and said would you like to meet me here and that's where they had their first sexual encounter on that roof," said Sgt. Gary Gross, Lakeland Police spokesman.

From there, Gross said Fichter had sex with the student 20 to 30 more times at her Lakeland apartment.

"She certainly is a classic predator, and we do know that male victims are reluctant to come forward. I would not be surprised after this story airs that we have somebody else come forward. I hope not," Gross said.

In court on Thursday, Fichter appeared calm and collected as she chatted up her attorney.

She faces dozens of charges between all three cases. Her bond is now set a $520,000.

"Every victim we've talked to had no idea about the other one. They all thought they were exclusive and she was truly their girlfriend," Gross said.
