Silver Alert canceled, missing man found safe

UPDATE: Donald J. Guzzo was located Friday evening with the assistance of the Florida Highway Patrol in the area of Interstate 10 in North Florida.

He was found after his vehicle ran out of gas, according to a Haines City Police news release issued Saturday.

Guzzo was found safe. The Florida Highway Patrol escorted Guzzo back to Lake County, where he was met by a Haines City Police Department detective. Guzzo was returned home.

The Haines City Police Department have issued a Silver Alert for a missing elder man. 

Donald J. Guzzo, 78, was last seen at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday driving to the Dodge dealership on Highway 27 N, in Davenport to have his vehicle serviced.

His appointment was at 11 a.m. but he never arrived for the appointment.

The vehicle he was driving was a dark blue 2012 Dodge Caravan, with wheelchair access on the passenger side, a Handicap placard hanging from rearview mirror, and  a Handicap Florida Tag  that reads Z4JNU.

Guzzo has early onset dementia and is a diagnosed diabetic (insulin dependent).

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey polo shirt (untucked), and gym shoes. Guzzo is 5'5", 112 lbs, with brown/grey hair and brown eyes.
