Plastic bottles, beer cans, you name it - it’s lining the streets of Polk County.

And the county is refusing to pick it up for one reason only.

“We are supposed to be getting new recycle bins sometime in November, maybe,” Anna Dietrick says she is fed up with the lack of pickup in her Polk County neighborhood.

A glance down Piano Lane and it looks like a jam-packed trash day.

But milk jugs, card board and more has been sitting there for a month.

The county refuses to pick up recyclables unless it’s in a new, much larger, bin.

Residents were supposed to request the new, larger bins before the new program began on October 2nd.

“They notified us in March and I never got a postcard and I never remembered seeing a postcard in March,” Deitrick said.

She’s not the only one who has been waiting for recycling to pick up her items - and hasn’t received a bin either.

About 150,000 Polk Residents are without the new bins and will be for at least the next month.

“You can see the recyclable I had it out on Friday and his hasn't been picked up-- you look at my trash look at my trash still hasn't been picked up I don't know what the deal is,” Elvin Smith Jr. said.

Smith also says he never got the mailer either.

However, did see the postcard saying if you haven’t requested one, you’ll still receive a new bin between November and January.

“You can see nobody has them everybody has the old yellow bins,” Smith said.

Polk County says the new recycling bins will be rolled out by November.

Meanwhile, recyclers are forced to wait.

“I wish Polk County would get something done about it because it's really frustrating,” Smith said.
