POLK COUNTY, Fl - Micki Pickren's family feels it is a miracle she is alive. Pickren, 52, was shot in the head three times Wednesday night.
Just two days later, Pickren is out of the ICU at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, is walking, talking and eating on her own, according to family members.
They also said Pickren will not have to undergo jaw surgery which was previously planned.
Polk County deputies say Pickren's boyfriend, Randall Scott Miller, 44, shot her at point blank range Wednesday night in an Auburndale orange grove.
Family members told ABC Action News Miller pulled his white pickup truck over and without warning pulled a gun on Pickren.
As Pickren was shot she never let go of her beloved toy poodle Bella, her sister Debbie Pickren said.
According to Debbie, Miller drove three miles away to a post office and left her sister for dead. Two woman came across Pickren bleeding and still clutching her dog.
Deputies are still searching for Miller.
Miller is described as a white male, 5'11'' tall, 200 lbs., with brown haircut in a crew cut, blue eyes, a Marine Corps tattoo on his left arm and a scar over his left eye.
Miller's last known address is 563 Cone Road #1 in Auburndale.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
He may be driving a white 1998 Chevy pickup truck with Florida tag K29 7TL.
Miller has been arrested previously for battery, battery domestic violence and child abuse.
