Polk County deputies looking for hit-and-run suspects in two separate cases

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Polk County Sheriff deputies are working two separate hit and run crashes that happened early Saturday morning.

The first one happened around 2:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 92.

Hector Chavez, 27, was riding his bicycle along U.S.Highway 92 early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle.

A passerby called 911 after they saw Chavez laying in the roadway near the intersection of Payne Street and Highway 92.

Paramedics confirmed the man was dead upon arrival. It appears he may have been hit by more than one vehicle.

Highway 92 was shutdown for several hours.

Detectives are working to figure out who the suspect/suspects might be at this time.

Later on Saturday around 6:40 a.m. Polk County dispatch received a call from a motorist who claimed they saw a woman laying on the side of the road of Clubhouse Road in Lakeland.

When deputies arrived they found a woman's body who appeared to have been dead for several hours.

The woman has been identified as Jill Braddock of Lakeland.

Deputies are looking for what they believe is the suspect vehicle. The description is a 2007-2012 Nissan car, possibly an Altima that has front-end and mirror damage to the passenger side.

The car would have been headed east down Clubhouse Road when it hit Braddock.
