Police: Woman and child used as decoys during violent home invasion in Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Winter Haven Police are warning residents to be on alert following a violent home invasion where a woman and child were used as decoys.

Police said the attack happened at a home on Hartridge Drive on Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m.

According to the victim, the woman and child knocked on his door.  He told police he looked out his window and saw a woman wearing a light-blue shower cap and gray tank top.  He said the two looked scared, so he opened the door to see if he could help.

Police said as soon as he opened the door, two men pushed their way into the home and slammed the victim to the ground. 

The victim was held at gunpoint and pinned down by one of the men while the other ran through the home grabbing electronics and cash.

Winter Haven Police told Action News they believe this is a random act.

The victim was not hurt.
