New Polk County Resort hiring up people for up to 200 jobs

FORT MEADE, Fla. - People in need of a job in southern Polk County are getting a lot of help around the holiday season.

More than 200 jobs are being made available as an all new resort, Streamsong, is opening near Fort Meade in January.

The resort, built by phosphate giant Mosaic, boasts the nation's 12th and 14th best ranked golf courses in the country and is building the 216 room hotel to accompany the golf.

Hiring is being done at a job fair from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Hotel representative Thomas Perkins says they've had at least 7,000 people pre-apply online for the job fair.

"That's an extremely high amount of interest in the local community. We're thrilled for that excitement and we think that energy will carry into our opening," he said

Job seeker Kristin Eldridge says the positions have been the talk of nearby Fort Meade, although they've been somewhat of an open secret.

"Everybody's wanting to find a job so it's very ‘hush hush,' you don't want to be ‘hey, I'm going for this job,' because you don't want somebody to come and take your job!" she said.

The jobs rank from lower paying jobs to higher paying management positions.
