One killed, one injured in Mulberry single vehicle crash

Lezet Mendoza, 27, was headed east on State Road 60, just west of County Line Road in Mulberry when she says she saw a dark shadow on the road. She said she swerved to avoid the shadow, but the vehicle, an explorer, began sliding and rolling repeatedly.

During the rollovers, both of Mendoza's passengers were not wearing seatbelts and they were ejected.

A passenger, 22-year-old Amanda Mendoza, suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital. She is listed in stable condition.

The second passenger, 17-year-old Monica Gonzalez of Bowlig Green was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver, Lezet, was wearing a s seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. Neither speed nor impairment seem to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
