A 7-year-old boy who disappeared after his father shot a man has been found, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Innocent Destino III is unharmed, deputies said. He is being returned to his mother.
Deputies are still searching for his father, Innocent Destino Jr., who is wanted on charges of child abuse, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at a business at 2514 Old Tampa Highway in Lakeland.
Destino Jr. got into an argument with Mitchell Scott, 24, deputies said. He shot Scott twice, once in the lower right leg and once in the foot.
Ashley Browning lives right behind the business. Her family heard multiple shots.
“Those bullets could've came over hit [and] my daughter," Browning said.
Scott tried to drive himself to the hospital but was stopped by Lakeland police. He has since been treated and released from Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
