LAKELAND - Deputies apprehended a third suspect accused of leading them on a multi-county chase in a stolen car along Interstate 4 from Seminole County all the way to Lakeland, and back to an Orlando-area hotel Thursday evening.
Osceola County deputies followed the vehicle, reported stolen out of Seminole County in September, westbound on Interstate 4, and entered Polk County just after 4:00 p.m.
The car, a stolen Ford 500, was driven by 42-year-old Alan White through Sun Acres in Lakeland, and two people, a man and a woman, jumped out and began to run. Polk County deputies were able to nab the pair. Their identities are expected to be released later.
Meanwhile, the driver, who authorities identified as Alan White, 42, got back on the throughway.
With speeds that got up to about 80 mph, the car lost at least one tire, and still the driver was able to find his destination, the Orlando Grand Hotel, off of John Young parkway, and pull into a parking space.
The driver left the car and witnesses reported seeing him run into the hotel.
Minutes later, law enforcement surrounded the hotel, evacuated the building and locked it down.
Traffic was shut down northbound John Young Parkway traffic in the area of the hotel.
Then officials performed a room by room search until they located the suspect and placed him under arrest on the third floor. He has been identified as Alan White. He will face a charge for the stolen vehicles, and is likely to face several more charges, officials say.
