Florida named 'most stressful' state, but some aren't buying it

LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida has been called a lot of names over the years. Now you can add a new label to the list: Most stressful.

A new study by the real estate blog Movoto puts Florida at the top of the list above Georgia, New Jersey and even California as the most stressful states in the country.

The blog measured stress using six criteria:Long commutes, unemployment rates, long work days, population densities, house expenses and the amount of population without health insurance. Florida got the highest marks across the board.

But some call the study bogus.

"To be honest with you, I don't find the State of Florida to be stressful," said Brittany Ellis, wedding and event planner for Eventrics in Lakeland.

Event planning is one of the top four stressful jobs in the country.

"You put in a lot of hours, but we love it. We strive on stressful environments. I think if you don't then you couldn't be in this industry," Ellis said.

That stress has nothing to do with the Sunshine State, she said.

Traffic may get on her nerves, but she and others noted that the study left off great stress relievers. Florida sits above the rest in this area. There are the theme parks, incredible weather and some of the best beaches in the world.

"The beaches and the sunshine are your release," Ellis said.

While Florida took the medal for the most stressful, Movoto named North Dakota the least stressful.
