Board chairwoman of Publix, Lakeland woman Carol Jenkins Barnett makes Forbe's wealthiest list

The Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people is getting a little Tampa Bay action this go-around.
Lakeland resident and native Carol Jenkins Barnett, the board chairwoman of Publix Super Markets and the daughter of the Publix founder George Jenkins made The World's Billionaires list with an estimated net worth of $1 billion as of March.
This is a return to the list for Barnett, 56, after making it in 2008, then dropping off in 2009.
She is now number 1, 342 of 1,426 billionaires in the world, the Lakeland Ledger reports ( http://wfts.tv/Z1Q8DU ).
Barnett ranks last among the 31 billionaires in Florida.
Barnett graduated with a Bachelor of Arts/Science from Florida Southern College.
She is married with two children, and she is also president of Publix Super Markets Charities, which donates $25 million every year to nonprofit organizations serving youth education and the homeless.
Her political contributions include $45,000 to republicans and $7,000 independent.
