Advisory board releases report on Lakeland Police Department

LAKELAND, Fla. - A citizens' advisory committee, charged with assessing the Lakeland Police Department, presented its final report Monday morning.  They made 21 specific recommendations for the city. 

The department has been embroiled in a scandal that began over the summer.  State Attorney Jerry Hill spelled it out in a letter to city leaders, which questioned whether the sexual improprieties of more than 10 members of the department, along with a variety of other problems that came to light in the last several months.

Police Chief Lisa Womack has said that she and the department are headed in the right direction, even as the voices calling for her resignation keep getting louder.
