LAKELAND, Fla. - A citizens' advisory committee, charged with assessing the Lakeland Police Department, presented its final report Monday morning. They made 21 specific recommendations for the city.
The department has been embroiled in a scandal that began over the summer. State Attorney Jerry Hill spelled it out in a letter to city leaders, which questioned whether the sexual improprieties of more than 10 members of the department, along with a variety of other problems that came to light in the last several months.
