Joshua Kimbrough, 32, now facing premeditated first degree murder charges

POLK CO., Fla - A man accused of setting his wife on fire back in August has now been charged with premeditated first-degree murder.

Joshua Kimbrough, 32, had his charges upped Sunday after his Megan Kimbrough, 26, passed away at Tampa General Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Police say Joshua poured gasoline on his wife while she sat in a recliner and set her on fire inside their Lakeland home.  Megan was burned over 80 percent of her body and was not expected to live.  However, Megan fought for almost four months for her life and underwent 12 skin graft surgeries.

Following her last surgery, Megan contracted an infection that antibiotics could not fight.  Hospice was called in shortly after and Megan died with her mother by her side.

Megan is expected to be buried in her native Indiana on December 1.  Funeral details have not yet been made public.

As for Joshua, police said after lighting his wife on fire he went on a crime spree that included an armed car jacking.  He faces a slew of charges in those cases.

Megan's mother has declined to comment on her daughter's death.

On Megan's outreach page on Facebook, her mother posted the following comment Monday morning:

"Today is a good day! I feel Meg all around me, whispering do not be sad, God gave me a do over. I witnessed a miracle the last 3 months. I watched a young woman grow close to God. Meg was saved many years ago she knew God and God knew her and He loves her so much that He gave her 3 months to heal her heart and when it was complete, he took her home. On December 1 we will lay her earthly body to rest but she is already at peace. We will cry for our loss but rejoice for her victory! My dearest Meg, I will look for you at the gates of Heaven when our Lord calls me home, we will walk together and sing praises to the Lord as one."

Megan is survived by her two small children.

Joshua is expected back in court on December 12 for a pre-trial hearing.
