Jennifer Fichter, teacher accused of sex with student, to be fired

BARTOW, Fla. - The Polk County School District is set to fire Jennifer Fichter on Tuesday.

She is accused of having sex with one of her students.

New revelations showed an investigation in 2008 in which Fichter suddenly resigned from a teaching job in Orlando.

The investigation goes on to say she was accused of sending inappropriate text messages to an eighth grader, a boy she reportedly told a teacher she had feelings for and implied she wanted to have sex with him.

It turns out Fichter left off Orange County schools on her application when she applied in Polk County. She also denied ever being under investigation. The department of education says districts are required to report teacher misconduct and Orange County admits, in this case, it did not.

That led to Fichter's hiring in Polk County.

In the most recent incident, Fichter admitted to police she got pregnant with the 17-year-old boy's baby and had an abortion.

School board members will meet Tuesday. The superintendent has said she will recommend her firing.
