The Haines City assistant police chief was suspended for 24 hours without pay for improperly using his position, the department announced Monday.

A review found that Assistant Chief Brian McNulty, on August 20, asked several officers to help him push his broken down vehicle from Miracle Toyota to a Goodyear dealership almost a mile away.  One of the officers had to be taken to the hospital later that day.

The review found that McNulty was not untruthful or demonstrated conduct unbecoming of an officer.

In short, it was deemed he had "momentary a lapse of judgement" and failed to use other available options.

McNulty has been with the Haines City Police Department for 17 years.
