Guns and car parts found in alleged chop shop in Polk County

POLK COUNTY - Polk County Sheriff's deputies say they have uncovered a chop shop inside A-1 Quality Services Inc., a septic tank business off Dairy Road in Auburndale.

Detectives are serving a search warrant and so far have recovered numerous stolen car parts, dismantled stolen vehicles and 50-75 firearms, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Detectives discovered that the owner of the business, Aleta Burgett, 59, along with her son Brent Burgett, 29, and an associate, Alexander Bove, 26, have been using the location as a chop shop.  These three suspects have been arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property.

A tip led them to the business.

"These guns were in the hands of a known felon and that is what we have got to focus on," said Sheriff Judd.

Judd said the search of the property will take three days.  He added that after the holiday, people who believe their guns are among the stolen will be able to come in and take a look at the goods.
