Auburndale Police are investigating the death of a 7-month-old infant after she was run over in the driveway of her family home on June 30, 2016.

According to police, at approximately 7:02 p.m., the mother of the child, Anayeli Soto, put her daughter, Yvette Flores, 7-months-old, in her car seat and placed the car seat on the ground in the yard near the right rear door of their vehicle while she ran back into the home to get something she had forgotten. The infant's father, Freddy Flores, was in the driver seat of their Ford F-350 heavy duty pick-up truck and did not know that the mother had put the car seat holding the infant on the ground by the truck. At the same time, another family member needed to leave the home in a separate vehicle, which was being blocked by the truck, so Mr. Flores started the truck and pulled forward to allow the family member to leave. Mr. Flores unknowingly drove over the child and the car seat.

The infant was transported by Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance to Winter Haven hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Auburndale Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators are continuing to investigate this tragic accident. There was no indication that Mr. Flores was impaired at the time of the incident.
