Federal government agents are right here at home, in the Bay, to help those worst hit by Hurricane Irma.
The federal emergency management agency set up a mobile disaster recovery center in the stuart center in Bartow. The address is 1702 us highway 17 south. The center is just one of two open in the state.
Polk County was badly hit by the hurricane. Power outages, property damage and flooding left some families with nothing to their name. Experts with the agency can help people apply for disaster assistance. Residents can also get their questions answered and find out more about other FEMA disaster programs.

What makes these grants so helpful is that they don’t have to be paid back. This assistance is non-taxable and will not impact eligibility for other federal benefits like social security.
