US Marshal accidentally shoots self at St. Petersburg firing range

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A U.S. Marshal shot himself in the leg at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Firing Range Wednesday morning, according to a statement.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the facility located at 11700 34th Street North in St. Petersburg.

The marshal was a member of a group at the range engaged in shooting exercises.

"At one point during the drills, a US Marshal employee suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper leg," according to the sheriff's statement.

The marshal, who was not identified, was treated at a hsopital for a non-life threatening injury.

No other information was immediately available.
