Investigators are searching for a suspect who intentionally ran over a security guard Friday at a Palm Harbor adult club.
Douglas Berube, 42, of Palm Harbor was seriously injured after he was run over at Silks at 37100 U.S. 19, according to law enforcement.
Berube had tried to stop an individual involved in an altercation at the club but was unsuccessful, law enforcement said. The suspect ran over Berube in the parking lot before driving away south on U.S. 19.
Newly released surveillance video shows the incident. Berube saw the footage for the first time Monday in his hospital room, and it wasn't easy for him to watch.
"He ran me over," Berube repeated through tears. "I couldn't move. I mean I'm just lying there."
"I'm mad more than anything about this whole situation," Berube's girlfriend, Elizabeth Lopez, said.
Lopez was the first phone call Berube made that night. But now in his hospital room at Bayfront Health, the two sit hand-in-hand waiting for another call. This time, hopefully, one with news of an arrest.
"I cannot wait to see his face in court. I cannot wait to smile at him when justice gets him and he goes to jail."
