Roommate fight leads to Pinellas County SWAT response

KENNETH CITY, Fla. - A man is in custody after he held Pinellas County Sheriff's Office SWAT responders and Kenneth City police on a 12 hour stand off.

Officers say Justin Peters, 32, got into a fight with his roommates late Saturday night. When his roommates returned the house they all share Peters was waiting for them with a shot gun.

The two roommates went to Kenneth City police stating their roommate was threatening to shoot them if they came back into the house.

Police attempted to call Peters to see what the issue was, but received threats from him over the phone.

When officers arrived on scene on 56th Way North, they found Peters inside the house with the shotgun still threatening to kill anyone who attempted to arrest him.

Officials say he even called his girlfriend around 12:30 a.m. to reiterate his threats to law enforcement.

As the night turned to morning Peters eventually told police we was getting tired and was going to go to bed. At 11:30 a.m. Sunday they made their way into the house and found Peters asleep.

He was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and has a history of mental illness.

Police also believe Peters was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

This is not his first time, there are over 20 past charges against him.
