ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A woman left her son, 8, in her car alone for four hours overnight while she drank at a downtown bar, according to St. Petersburg police.
Officers arrested Krastina Yankova Gesheva around 3:00 a.m. Monday and charged her with DUI and child neglect.
When police showed up to the Tryst Gastro Lounge at 240 Beach Drive NE, a crowd of people were standing outside pointing to a woman, later identified as Gesheva, who was inside a 2010 silver Mercedes in front of the lounge.
Witnesses told police that she had struck two parked cars as she was backing out and was attempting to leave the area.
Officers approached the car and noted that Gesheva's 8-year-old son was in the car with her at the time.
Officers learned from witnesses that Gesheva had been seen in the lounge drinking for approximately four hours and that her son had been seen sitting in her car alone during that time. They said that periodically the son would exit the car and come into the bar to look for his mother.
Gesheva's blood alcohol content was later determined to be 0.177%.
Officers arranged for a guardian to take custody of the child.
