Police: Fourth grade teacher sent lewd photos

LARGO, Fla. - A fourth grade teacher is under arrest after police say they found nude photos of her on a cellphone belonging to a 17-year-old boy.

Leslie Brown, a teacher at Fuguitt Elementary, faces two felony charges.

“I’m sick to my stomach, I just cannot believe this would have happened,” said a neighbor who asked not to be identified.

He said he’s lived across the street from Brown and her husband for 15 years

“Seemed like a good marriage between them,” he said.

The three had been friends almost the entire time, with the Browns stepping up to help when his wife passed away and he was diagnosed with cancer.

“They’ve been watching out for me and I don’t know what's going to happen now,” their neighbor said.

The latest accusations against the fourth grade teacher now has him questioning how much he actually knew Brown. He said the self-proclaimed fitness buff spent much of her free time at the Highland Recreational Center in Largo.
According to police, that’s where witnesses told investigators they saw Brown enter a unisex bathroom with the teen, adding they spent about 10 minutes behind the locked door.

Both denied doing anything in the bathroom when questioned by police. But it didn't end there.

“We conducted some more investigation and we did determine there were some lewd texts and photos exchanged,” said Lt. Stephen Slaughter of the Largo Police Department.

Brown denied having a physical relationship with the boy, telling police he was her workout partner.

Police say the alleged relationship had nothing to do with Brown's position as a teacher nor did the two meet in an educational setting.
However Pinellas County School District issued a brief statement regarding the incident.

“Pinellas county schools is conducting an investigation into the allegations. Ms. Brown has been employed by the district for six years and has no prior discipline record,” according to the statement.

The school district said it will continue to cooperate with police during the investigation.
Brown was booked on two felony counts of transmission of material harmful to minors. She has since posted bail.
