A crash injured nine people and closed the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 on Wednesday, according to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue.
One the patients was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. when a vehicle heading north on U.S. 19 crossed into oncoming traffic near the Tampa Road intersection, fire officials said. The vehicle struck two oncoming vehicles.
Firefighters treated eight patients, six of whom refused further treatment other than what they received from paramedics.
A ninth patient returned to the crash scene and was treated for what paramedics described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 19 near the Tampa Road intersection have been closed.
