New Pinellas County resident drowns in Allen's Creek

ALLEN'S CREEK, Fla. - A 51-year-old man who recently moved to Pinellas County died after two onlookers attempted to rescue him from Allen's Creek Sunday afternoon.

Two men were fishing in Allen's Creek behind a small shopping center on US Highway 19 North when they noticed a man struggling in the water.

They saw the man became unresponsive as they tried to rescue him at 2:245 p.m. The man was taken to Largo Medical Center by Fire Rescue, where he was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m.

Deputies said the victim had relocated to the Pinellas County area from South Carolina recently.

His name will be released once his family is notified.
