A 20-year-old man was killed Tuesday at the Moto X raceway, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Dale J. Boorman of Bermuda died when another motorbike rider crashed into him, police said.
The collision happened about 7 p.m. at the raceway at 4300 126 Ave., police said. According to a preliminary investigation, Boorman was struck while riding his motorbike north along the inside of the raceway’s track.
Another rider, Matthew Gardner, 23, of Lakeland rode south along the outside edge of the track, police said, and took a jump just before a turn in the track.
As he went airborne, Gardner entered Boorman’s lane, police said. His motorbike struck Boorman in the head and upper body.
Gardner did not receive serious injuries, police said.
Boorman’s father was at the track when the crash occurred, police said.
Pinellas Park police have classified the death as accidental.
