A 45-year-old man died Tuesday night after a fisherman found him in water off Indian Rocks Beach, deputies said.
George Baletsa of Massachusetts was unresponsive when he was discovered, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead after he was taken to the Largo Medical Center.
Deputies have called his death a drowning. However, an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
Deputies responded about 7 p.m. to 1308 Gulf Blvd. to reports of Baletsa being found.
Baletsa had been playing with his children on the beach when he went for a swim, deputies said. The fisherman found Baletsa and pulled him from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital about an hour later.
His family was in Pinellas County on vacation.
