Man charged with DUI after crashing into Dunedin barber shop

DUNEDIN, Fla. - A Dunedin man was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing into a barber shop Tuesday afternoon.

Carey James Hickman, 41, was traveling at high speeds headed east on Beltrees Street toward the t-intersection at Patricia Avenue.

He crossed into Patricia Avenue and into the parking lot of Dunedin Lanes bowling, then crossed Cedarwood Street and hit the south side of a barbershop at 463 Patricia Avenue about 5:45 p.m.

The crash caused a hole in the concrete wall.

No one was inside the barber shop at the time of the crash. Deputies say the barber shop owner saw the crash while standing outside the building. He was not hurt. Hickman declined medical care as was arrested for DUI.

The investigation continues.
