Deputies: Man climbs to restricted roof area of Johns Pass garage, falls 7 stories down and survives

JOHNS PASS, Fla. - A Clearwater man is recovering after he fell from a seven-story parking lot at Johns Pass overnight while under the influence alcohol.

Deputies say 31-year-old Nicholas Voutsinas and a friend climbed up to the restricted roof area of the garage roof at Lagoon Lane and 125 th Avenue to get a better to get a better view of the city around 11 p.m. Thursday. 

The friend decided to come back down while Voutsinas stayed. But by the time the friend got downstairs, Voutsinas had already fallen down on the roadway, and was rendered unconscious.

He was flown to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.

He sustained multiple fractures to his face, leg and pelvis.

Officials determined he had alcohol in his system. Deputies can't confirm whether Voutsinas fell or jumped.

An investigation is underway.
