Friends remember two children deputies say were killed by mother

Memorial set up by Brown home

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - Family and friends are remembering two children who were allegedly killed by their own mother, before she took her own life.

The children's father found his family at their home on Sidney Street early Saturday morning and now, that father  hopes to give his children a proper burial.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office investigators suspect 34-year-old Dawn Brown killed her sons, then hanged herself with an electrical cord from a bedroom ceiling fan around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for the Brown family shared pictures of Zander, 9, and Zayden,5, during happier times.

But now,  Brown must prepare a final goodbye.

To help, a friend created a website just hours after the boys' deaths.

On the bottom, it reads, "Murphy Brown and his family want to thank you for making a donation. By doing so, you will help Murphy Brown give his children a proper burial."
Zachary Petryszak was best friends with both the boys.

"Today, we're honoring and trying to make the best this death," Petryszak said.

Meanwhile at the Brown's home, a memorial keeps growing and growing.

People are constantly stopping by to pay their respects.

Adolfo Gomez was also friends with the boys.

"I couldn't believe that he was dead because he's such a good kid. For both of them," Gomez said.

Friends of the family tell ABC Action News the 9-year-old went to McMullen-Booth Elementary School.

Crisis counselors are expected Monday to help students deal with the loss.

Petryszak knows it will be a tough day.

"I actually broke out and I didn't know what I should do. I got very sad," he said.

The family spokesperson said the children's father is devastated .

Brown eventually plans on writing a letter that will be shared with the media in the next few days, but right now, they're just trying to make sense of the tragedy.

Autopsies will be performed on the children to determine their causes of death.
