PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - The boat belonging to two fishermen whose bodies were found in Lake Tarpon on New Year's Day was found Thursday afternoon.
The boat was found submerged in about 13 feet of water of the east coast of the lake.
According to a sheriff's statement, there did not appear to be any significant damage to the vessel. A thorough inspection will be conducted.
The two men, Willie Hightower and Willie Ragins of Plant City, went fishing Saturday and never returned. Several of their items including a gas can and thermos were located but the men and their boat were still missing.
The sheriff's office had been searching for them since Sunday.
The deaths do not appear suspicious but detectives and forensics personnel are investigating. Autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death.
