A mishap at East Lake High School sent a student 30 feet into the air while tearing down a set for the school’s production of Peter Pan, according to Pinellas County school officials.
The student was holding a rope that was part of the set’s rigging when it was pulled into the air, officials said.
East Lake Fire Rescue arrived at the school and found the student on a catwalk 75 feet above the stage and unable to get down on his own, according to the agency. He was lowered down with special equipment and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The operation took about an hour and a half.
School officials said he had a head injury.
