When her dog Allie disappeared Saturday, Delilah Gagliardi waited for two days for her to return.
Then she heard whimpering under her floorboards.
Gagliardi discovered on Monday her dog had been trapped under her Clearwater home the entire time, according to the Humane Society of Pinellas County. After she let her pet into the backyard Saturday, the dog climbed under the home through a small hole.
Allie stayed quiet until she heard Gagliardi’s baby cry, making her whimper. Gagliardi called the Humane Society of Pinellas after hearing the noise.
The nonprofit's staff dismantled the home’s porch to reach the dog, digging toward her while Allie dug toward them.
Allie jumped into her owner’s arms once free, according to the nonprofit, and licked the faces of her rescuers.
