Deputies searching for hit-and-run suspect who left 76-year-old woman in road

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - The Pinellas Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help identify the driver of a truck shown in a grainy photo released on Thursday.  They believe the truck was involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 76-year-old woman.

Barbara L. Gaymore was crossing Starkey Road just north of Park Boulevard in front of Perkins Restaurant at 1:50 p.m.

As she crossed the road pulling a blue suitcase, she was struck by a northbound-traveling vehicle.

Gaymore was thrown to the ground and the driver fled the scene.

As of Thursday morning, she was listed in critical condition.

The blue suitcase being pulled by the victim may have become lodged in the grill or the undercarriage of the suspect vehicle, according to deputies.

Parts of the suitcase were found at the scene.

The vehicle may be a white Ford Ranger with an extended cab. It is believed to have front right side damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Nick Lazaris at (727) 582-6200.
