An 18-month-old boy was hospitalized Friday night with severe facial wounds after his family’s dog attacked him, according to St. Petersburg Police Department.
The child is in stable condition at All Children’s Hospital, police said. The dog, a Husky mix, was taken by Pinellas County Animal Control.
Police received a report of the attack about 6:50 p.m. The Massachusetts family had recently purchased a home in the area and was staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel at 2311 Ulmerton Road.
The family told officers the dog is a longtime pet had never been aggressive toward the child in the past, police said.
