Two people died in a 3-vehicle crash on Pinellas Bayway Bridge

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. - Pinellas County detectives are still investigating a crash that killed two people and sent a child to the hospital late Saturday night.

Charles Mason was driving his 2004 Chevy Tahoe over the Pinellas Bayway Bridge just before 10 p.m. Saturday. As the 56-year-old headed toward the toll plaza he started to go through a right curve, crossed the center line and struck an a Ford F250 head-on.

Another car coming up the other side of the road was unable to stop before the crash and stuck the back of the pickup.

Mason, and the driver of the F250, 66-year-old Clovis Polston, both died at the scene.

A child that was in the car with Mason was taken to All Children's Hospital as a precaution.

Polston's passenger as well as the third driver were uninjured.

Detectives are still investigating to figure out what caused Mason to cross the center line.
