Student injury forces three Pasco County Schools on lockdown

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - Several schools in Pasco County were placed under a precautionary lock down on Friday afternoon.

It was prompted after a freshman at Wesley Chapel High School reported to school officials she had some type of cut/injury to her upper torso.

The injury was described as superficial, non life-threatening.

The Pasco Sheriff's Office responded and determined there was no credible threat to the students or the school. 

The school went into lockdown around 12:20 p.m. It was lifted around 1:50 p.m.

Wesley Chapel Elementary and Thomas E. Weightman Middle Schools also went into lockdown as they investigated.

The investigation continues into what caused of the student's injury. 

The school board released this statement to Action News:

"We are seeing wild rumors on social media about the incident at Wesley Chapel High School.  The student has a superficial wound and has not been transported to the hospital.  At this time there is no indication that another student was involved.  The Sheriff's office continues to investigate, but all schools are out of lockdown.  All Wesley Chapel High School students have been dismissed."
